This drawing below turned up in the mail one day and I thought what a great bit of art work. It is three mice singing carols from original illustrations in a book called 'The Wind in the Willows' you no doubt have heard about. A children's book that went through many editions, the first one in 1908. It just caught my eye and I thought it would be great to be able to sketch like that.
Sometimes, at moments like these, I wish I had a more active life style to fill out this blog. But only at moments like these. My life at this time of year is made up of little chores and clipping back the greenery.
Got hold of a book from the library called ‘A Child Called It’ by Pelzar. Then read a couple more by the author’s brother. What some people have to go through in this world.
Took Rosemary into the Temple one day this month and walked around the village and then chatting with a sister in the visitors centre. Interesting the different people they have in there doing their thing. Lots of missionary sisters wandering around and was thinking that Laurie was there one time because she had to be to meet David! They will have the Temple Christmas Lights there from the 12th of Dec. to the 9th of Jan. Something that to me is tacky but attracts normal people.
Still picking up bargains from the op-shops, I like bargains. One of the best was a colour cartridge for two dollars that would cost 56 dollars normally. Also got a very good pair of pants for 50 cents. We have here in Putaruru some of the most reasonably priced stuff as anywhere.
The house rates are very low too. We have most of the things we need and don’t need and plenty of free parking. The best of water and plenty of it. I didn’t choose to live here it just happened.
Hope you will all be having the sort of Christmas and New Years you would like to have and that all will be as well as can be expected. All the best for another month from the oldest.
