On the first of the month was a public holiday so we had a pretty lazy
Marion was in charge of decorating the hall for the Multi Stake YSA ball and had the first of her exams this week so it was a bit full on for her.
Thursday the tenth I went down it give her and the other YSAs a hand for a few hours then after Mum finished work she came down as well. They next day Calvin went down and waited for deliveries then after her exam Marion spent the rest of the day there. She did a great job and people were very impressed.
The next day was the ball a
Deshon Howe was baptized on the thirteenth; Grandpa came down for the day and attended Church with us. It was a nice service. Carmen and Marion spoke, Calvin gave his testimony, Austin said a prayer I baptised and Grandpa confirmed.
Calvin turned eighteen this month on a Sunday and went to first YSA fireside on the same day with Marion and Jaegar Nichols. Jaegar was so excited to have him come. The next day he sat and got his driving license and that night had Janet, Johnny and the Judd’s over for his birthday party that evening. He worked at Neighbours on th
Saturday night of the nineteenth Vern had a couple of free tickets to the movies so since Marion and Calvin were both working we took Austin and Carmen along with us. They went and watched the Three Musketeers and Vern and I watched Money Ball which was OK. It was a nice night out.
The next day we all went down to Wantirna to see Calvin graduate from Seminary. President Dudfield is away so I will stand in for him and shake hands with the graduates, what a treat that was for Calvin to shake his fathers hand.
Monday the twenty first Austin had a music concert at the Darebin Art Centre. We were all going down for Family Home Evening but Vern forgot to buy the tickets so there was only two left so just Vern and I went. The band stuff was pretty good but they had some singing and I didn’t know where to look. The next day Austin was playing in the State Championship for Hockey which they came third in. From there he went straight up to Boho for their camp, he enjoyed himself despite what Calvin had said about the place.
Calvin had his formal on the Wednesday the twenty third and drove himself there. He wore Dylan’s red suit and looked pretty sharp. I was just glad it got used again.
Although I tried hard to get someone else to do it, I ended up taking Carmen to the dance done in Werribee. I no longer have to be there officially since I look after the YSA but had to go since Vern was working, Marion was out and I didn’t even bother to ask Calvin. After I showed my face I sat in the car and watched Night at the Musum2.
On the last week of the month we had General Priesthood and Calvin was ordained an Elder. Vern and Carmen came down after the meeting and we did it then since the next day I was visiting Seymour Branch that now comes under our Stake. I also missed the Seminary Sacrament meeting that Vern, Calvin and Carmen spoke at. Vern said they all did really well and made her look good.
