Ray's Ravings

I have been reading Rosemary’s contribution and was wondering what I could add to it and she mentioned a few things that she hadn’t brought up.
One of them was about this woman who was on the Waikato walk with us. She had had a stroke that had left her with some mental problems. She had a friend with her to help her over the rougher bits of the trail and this person was telling me that before the stroke her friend had been a wealthy woman that some fellow had conned her out of and was now in jail. She had also climbed Mount Everest. This was the first time she had tried any hiking and was quite pleased with herself when she managed to get back to the bus that took us all back to our parked cars. She had an interesting personality.
I can’t keep up with Rosemary walking and was wondering if I got a cheap bike I could come along with her on her walks on the trails. So we looked at some bikes in a shop in Tokoroa. Another thing was that we were walking along the street in Matamata and saw this place that was manufacturing kayaks and so had to have a look in there. Have had this idea to get a couple and fool around on the Waikato River. However Rosemary has never been all that keen on bikes or boats so as yet we haven’t wasted our money on either!
We were in Tirau the other week and I usually go into the library and have a look at the books for sale. Couldn’t see anything that pleased me when the librarian showing me a book from a set of encyclopedias (22) that looked nice, said, “How about this?” WORLD BOOK (2001) and the price of $15.00 for the lot, I couldn’t resist. So now I have three sets of knowledge and know everything there is to know.
So you can see, my life has been just one excitement after another. What with buying things in op-shops and cutting the grass again it is all go. I must admit that I am feeling my age. Mental 12 years and physical 102 years.
