Ray's Ravings for January 2011

I got up this morning as usual, everything outside was more or less quiet while other places around the world were in chaos, naturally or man made and thought perhaps accidentally this was as good a place to live in as anywhere.
Some of you no doubt think Putaruru is the pits and you would be bored out of your wee brains if you had to live here, but, the climate is reasonable, no parking meters, most people can speak a good imitation of English and we have plenty of the finest drinking water in the world. To prove this I haven’t heard any complaints from the cat. A good place for a poor lad.
As usual I would be hard put to have something exciting to put into this contribution, never the less I will do my duty for Nicola so that she can read every word of my deathless blather.
I don’t know if I mentioned it before in these enlightening accounts but I have bought an electric lawn mower. After using a push mower for years and not being able to get it sharpened, adjusted and not having to pay the price of a new one I thought I would give an electric one a go. This runs off the mains with a long cable that until you get organized can strangle you. This is the only drawback apart from not being all that powerful. It is not as noisy as a petrol one and I’m sure runs a lot cheaper than $2.00 a litre.
Anyway I was actually doing something when they arrived, cutting the grass out front, when this car stopped and it was this chap, his wife, niece and child. The older couple coming all the way from London, Ontario Canada. He worked in Tokoroa years ago and has always been friendly with me because I am also a Canadian (what ever that is?) he is of Polish extraction. Had a snack at the Crazy Cow and then they off to Matamata to see where they made a movie on the Hobbits and all that.
The next big happening was going into Temple View and meeting up with Mark, Nicola and Jonathan. After they did their duty in the temple we drove into Hamilton and had a snack in a park. So, they off to Auckland to pick up William at the mission home, he having finished his mission and so to Christchurch.
We went over to Matamata for something to do and into The Warehouse looking at CDs when Rosemary saw this box of 87 CDs The complete works of Beethoven for $50 and she decided to buy them for me. At the checkout we found that they where down to $17 that works out to about 20 cents a CD! Some bargain
There, I have just done 474 words for the blog (now 480) etc. I hope all who read this are well and managing, that you will get plenty of opposition because that makes you grow, and that you will watch crossing the road.
All the best, Ray, etc.

Thank you for giving me some deathless blather to read. It's good to know you are well and kicking.
