Rosemary's Ramblings

Ray told me to write a contribution for the Blog my laptop, put in on a flashstick, and bring it over to his pc. What a mess! We gave it up as a bad job, printed it out instead, and now I am supposed to copy it into the pc and he will put it in the Blog. I do not feel inclined. It is my birthday and I am supposed to be enjoying my day! Most of what I had written was a duplication of Ray’s anyway, except the part about my garden, so I’ll just say something about that. Next month I will be sure to save what I write on my laptop with the right extension to bring over to the pc. If I remember! Usually we just bring photos back and forth on flashsticks, and that has been no problem.

So my garden. It has been a joy. Because the ground had been left fallow it harboured a lot of weed seeds, and the weeds, exposed at last to sunlight, have been growing prolifically. Not to worry, so have the vegetables and flowers I sowed or planted. The weeds I have pulled out regularly, and I think they are giving up the struggle. The vegetables I have been harvesting and freezing until my deep-freeze (admittedly not a large one) is full to bursting. As to the flowers, it has been wonderful to have a flower garden again. Not only has my new dahlia bed flourished – it is more like a dahlia forest – where huge walnut tree used to be, but a low garden of a variety of flowers grows where the carpet of ivy used to be under the hazel trees. It continues to amaze me. We cannot forget the walnut tree yet, though. For weeks we have been pulling out handfuls of walnut seedlings each day.

I must add, although Ray has mentioned it, how good it was to see Marion. She has grown into a fine young woman. I was really excited to hear of Ellen's mission call, and now eager await to hear of Dylan's. It is great to have grandchildren going on missions.

As you can see, we failed miserably getting me on to the Blog under my own name. Ray gave up and entered this under his name! Perhaps we can do better next month. So much for my New Year resolution to write on the Blog. It is all most frustrating. The Rambler
