Carmen drives to Sydney, Austin gets his learners’s and his
band plays at the formal, Dylan gets engaged .
On the first of the month Austin was set apart as the Priest Quorum 1
It was my birthday and I had
my ‘party’ on the day. Elder & Adam Dudfield came along and of course the
Fitzroy crew. It is very funny when they all get together.
Austin got his L plates on
Friday the sixth but I haven’t had the chance take him for a drive. I think he
is a little nervous, not enough time on the Playstation. That evening, Vern and
I went out to the Movies with Austin, Dylan and Rebecca at Northland. The boys
went to one movie and the girls another so everyone was happy.
On Queens Birthday weekend
Carmen and a couple of her friends drove up to Canberra and stayed with Marion
then onto Sydney for a convention. Ellen
flew up after her work on Friday and they will all come home Monday. I took Austin
to a service project Saturday morning and then he caught a train down the other
side of town and stayed with his friends down there for the weekend. The house
is pretty quite.
Monday was a holiday and it
was nice and sunny so Vern and I went for a walk in Bundoora Park. That
afternoon we went to the wedding of Oscar and Jessie. It was a small wedding
just sixteen of us in St Kilda. From there we went up to a restaurant in South
Morang. He has returned to church and
she was baptised today in the Epping Ward. One of the missionaries there is
from Uncle Mark’s Ward in Christchurch. When I mentioned who I was he said he
was wondering why I looked familiar.
On Friday the thirteenth
Dylan and Rebeka became engaged. They had both travelled to Port Macquarie were
her parents live earlier in the week. He had planned this for some time and had
ordered a ring that was supposed to be sent to him up there up in was delayed
so Ellen organised Glen to fly to Sydney then train it to Newcastle were
Rebeka’s dad and Dylan came down to early in the morning to meet him. What a drama, lucky she said yes.
Saturday I took Austin out
for his first drive, he did ok and picked it up pretty quickly. He did so well
I got him to drive to his basketball game, passed the trams and those narrow
streets.
For
Vern’s birthday we ordered some food in. She got some jewellery from the
children and I bought her some big headphones. She also got herself a new ring.
Thursday
the nineteenth we went to the temple, Dylan and Ellen were going on Saturday so
didn’t come with us. I ended up being the only male on the session, talk about
lonely.
Friday
night Vern and I went out to dinner with Tina and Gary Judd. It was good to
catch up with them your Vern just loves going out to dinner. The next day
Carmen had her primary class come over for a pancake day. It was nice to have
them here. They ate pancakes made by Austin then they came out to draw on the
concrete with chalk and play basketball. Carmen finished the day playing Mary
& Joseph.
A
couple of Bernie’s students from Deer Park invited him to church and so Vern am
I meet him and Irene there. They are such good people and I think they enjoyed
the day. His two students never left his side. Irene was happy that she was
given a Book of Mormon like the one Bernie has.
It was a cold windy week to
end the month and it only got to eleven degrees on Sunday the twenty-ninth,
Austin and I wore overcoats to church. It was Stake Conference and Austin and
Carmen sang at the Stake talent night on the Friday. They sang with JJ who
wrote the song. Rebekha did a dance, and Mum and Ellen sang a song as well. I
was slack and didn’t even go, what a sad guy. The Conference was good and Isaac
Gibbons was ordained an Elder.
