Melbourne Pettys

Carmen comes back from Sydney, Vern goes to the Gold Coast, Carmen buys a bike, Ellen and I go to Phillip Island.

Thursday the first Carmen came home after her month in Sydney and Canberra. When I say home I mean
back to Melbourne as she has spend most of her time at Dylan and Ellen’s place. She has a job interview lined up and got her hair dyed ‘normal’.

Friday evening Vern went off to the Gold Coast for the weekend for a surprise birthday party for Kaye Hettig. She is staying with Auntie Jo in her apartment overlooking the ocean, which she made a point of ringing and telling me about as I looked out our widow at the house next door and the pouring rain.

We had Paul over for dinner and a new member lesson on Wednesday the seventieth and the Elders over for dinner the next day. Then Friday it was down to the Stake Centre for Stake Volleyball. I didn’t play I just wanted to make sure the less active members that came were taken care of.

It was a very wet Saturday and Vern was at the Stadium all day due to the finals. We watched the movie’ Saving Mr Banks’ when she got home.  Mother’s day the next day and it was, benders and juicers. I ordained Austin a Priest after church with Dylan and Bishop Watson helping out. Ellen, Dylan and Rebecca came over for dinner and we called Elder Petty. It was good to hear his voice although the line was pretty bad. Sounds like he is going well, he is a Zone Leader covering three Islands so is often on the move.  bought a new one.otebook. The old keyboard didn'

I took Austin down for Temple baptisms on Thursday the fifteenth. Then on Saturday we went down to watch his Basketball final which his team won by a mile.

Sitting on the tram on the way to work on Monday the nineteenth reading my book, I suddenly felt a sharp pain across the middle of my back. For the rest of the day at work I had to be careful how I moved because it would hurt. So I was ok as long as I didn’t move. That was ok when I was awake but that night I was up every half hour each time I moved in bed. Not having had a good night I took the next day off work and got a fair bit of Playstation time in.

Carmen bought herself a new bike this week. It is has a basket on the front and with walled tires just like the one Ellen has. Now they can both ride around Fitzroy and fit in. She is pretty happy with it and with Ellen having the other car will get some use out of it.

Ellen rang me on Friday the twenty third and said she felt like going for a surf. She had been up on the Gold Coast the week before and had got the bug. I was happy to take her because I wanted to get back to Phillip Island to see if I could get a photo of a sea eagle.  She stayed at our place Friday night and then we left early in the morning and watched the sun come up as we drove down there. The Surf was pretty rough so we went for a walk along the cliffs on Cape Woolamai looking for a Sea Eagle. We didn’t see one but it was a great walk, from the top of the Cape you can see all of Phillip Island. The Surf was a little better when we got back so Ellen had a bit of a surf.

Saturday the thirty-first I cleaned the toilets at the chapel with Dylan and then I took his car to Janet’s place and picked up a chest of draws that she was getting rid of.  It fitted so nicely in the back of the car I took a photo.

That evening Vern, Dylan and I went to see a dance show that Rebekah’s dance company was putting on. It is pretty amazing what they can do on their toes. I was ok but Dylan was looking at his feet when the male dancer to doing a solo interpretation of ‘Autumn’. They are putting on Swan Lake later in the year and believe it or not I am looking forward to it. At least it gets me away from the Playstation.
