2013 January Blog
Not much to say of January, a real summer month, which I
enjoyed, but conditions got perilously close to drought even around here. We are fortunate. I can water my garden any time with the same
“Pump” water that people buy in bottles!
Well, that is not quite true. At
this end of town we mostly get our water from the Glenshea Spring right here in
town, but they tell us the water is the same quality.
I have organized a Bush and Beyond holiday for the end of February
and look forward to that. I do not have opportunities for long walks now, so I
hope I have not become too unfit to keep up with the company.
Ray bought me a book of New Zealand Wild Flowers. As the book includes introduced flowers that
have made themselves at home in New Zealand, and garden flowers that have
escaped into the wild, it is a useful
book to have. To become knowledgeable,
all I have to do is study it!
We bought ourselves another large picture. No, of course we had no room for it! We had to oust the big picture we had in the
laundry. The 'new' picture is actually
old and faded, which is why it cost $20.
It is a seascape. I have wanted
one for decades, but never saw one I liked before. There is an old cypress tree on a rocky
shore, and a huge wave coming in. The
faded blue shades are attractive and somewhat mystic.
What else? I went to the
temple and actually stayed alert.
How? Because the first session
was in French, and I had to strain to concentrate, choosing to ignore the
English script on the small screen. The
second session was in English, but with the French script on the small screen
so I read the French version to make sure I understood. It was all rather exhausting, but it kept me
awake!
Ray and I have been busy in the section, which threatens to
overcome us, but so far we have not been completely defeated.
I am delighted with the two items of news you will read in other
people's blogs.
All the best for February.
Rosemary/Nan.
