Ray's Ravings

For July 2011
Here we go again and the months roll on into years. You can’t kill time it kills you!
Started off the month by going to Te Aroha. Why, well why not? The price of petrol should stop any one on a small income. I figured out the buying power of our dollar compared with the Canadian dollar when we left that country of ice and snow, sweltering heat and blood thirsty insects. I would now have to have an income of $1300 a week to buy petrol now as then. $67600.00 annually, I think I make about half of that. Not complaining just stating a fact.
Te Aroha we walked around a swamp in which has a lake in the middle. Nice hike in the sunshine.
On the 4th we drove to Tokoroa (as though we should go there!) and walked around the lake with its concrete footpath all around. About two kilometres. Rosemary did it twice.
Every once in a while we go off to Tirau for a little treat at the Subway, have a little walk around and other exciting things like going into the second-hand book shop there and talking with the lady that runs the place. I am spoiled by op-shop book prices and find hers too high. I can often pick up five withdrawn books from the library across the street for two dollars.
Although we had it frost free a lot longer this year and one of the mildest months at the beginning of our so called winter, we had quite a cold snap the last of July.
So, as you can see our life style is still jet style and I like being retired. I think that is all for now. Hope all is going well as can be expected with the rest of you, all the best, The 1926 model.
