As usual my life style is rather quiet, you would think I was an old man. At times I only feel like a hundred and five, but then again how would I know what a 105 feels like?
I have weakened and bought an electric lawn mower for $244.30 and heavy duty extension cord for $60.30 I find the cord a bit of a bother but once I get organized maybe I hope to overcome some of the hassle from it. I just saw it advertised in some of the junk mail and thought that it wasn’t too bad of a price and I like buying things and it’s all shiny red and cheap looking so how could I resist.
So, with Rosemary handling the cord and me keeping an eye on it away I went and have cut the grass once and then again and the cord is still in one piece.
The next thrilling thing to happen was that three men turned up and started to double glaze the windows and two doors. That only cost just under six thousand and so the money rolls.
So, we have just the under floors to be insulated and we will then have moved from a wooden tent to a proper house. I hope to be able to keep it warm with a candle. It was useless before trying to heat half of Putaruru.
For you guys who can remember the chiming eight day mechanical mantle clock that I bought forty three years ago in Te Awamutu that never worked all that well, well, I finally took it into the clock shop in Tirau and had it taken apart, cleaned, oiled and fixed for $437. It cost £20 :7:6 (now what would that be today?)
A fool and his money are soon parted. Here is another little story to bore you with. The last time I was in Australia I bought three little digital alarm clocks. Not expensive, not cheap, just right. They have ticked along for years. One I gave to a friend who was keeping our mail box empty, one to Mum and one to me. Mine stopped the other day and I thought it needed a new battery. I put a new battery in and nothing happened so took the battery up to have it tested and it was found fully loaded and that proved my little clock had died. We are not having a funeral for it so don’t bother coming over for that
Are you still with me? I wish you all the best, don’t get in the way of big trucks and remember moderation in all things.
Keep smiling the worst is yet to come. Until next time then adieu.
