The monthly contribution

Ray’s Ravings for Aug.
Have just read over the month of August to find something to fill this contribution up with and it is just the same as ever, nothing worth putting down here. Talk about a quiet life, I’m living like some old person in an old folks home.
I could have had some excitement with Johnny and Janet inviting me over to use their new home on the coast there in Australia and decided that it would take just too much effort to go and didn’t even have the excuse of it costing me money!! It is appreciated I hope I haven’t hurt your feelings too much as I certainly don’t mean to. Rosemary of course wanted to go and no doubt she will go over there again sometime.
Yes I must be getting old for once I would go here and there with no effort. Now I don’t mind just puttering around and doing my chores, walking around to exercise my knees and buying another 40¢ book at the op-shop, reading my books from the library, fiddling on the computer and wondering what the meaning of life is and all that.
We are still getting a light frost once in awhile and then a brilliant day follows. Of course when it is wet it is milder. Everything is green, the spring flowers are blooming away and you never know I will soon have to be cutting grass again. I got the old push reel mower sharpened and am standing by to go into action any day now.
On Sundays every once in awhile I visit an older couple who live in Tokoroa and we have a chat etc. They were going for a trip to Raratonga for three weeks and then coming back, selling their house, and shifting to Putaruru. Well he upped and died while at work the other day without if you please. She is still going on the trip and selling the house if she can.
The girls have more go than the boys quite often. However I hope to go for a few days to Kawhia one of these days and walk the ocean beach. That is if the cat will allow me.
We are still waiting to have three of our trees taken down, but there are a lot of jobs around the place that need doing, all you need is money and plenty of it.
Otherwise I will sign off. Ray.

I am your son, for the life you describe sounds wonderful to my eyes.

"an older couple"?! Older that you two?
